The historic building was erected in 1826–1828 to a design by architect Franz Boffo in an early Italian Renaissance style. Over the years the hotel has been associated with well-known writers, artists, diplomats and international guests. Today the hotel continues its tradition of hospitality, combining historic architecture, classic interiors, rooms overlooking Prymorskyi Boulevard, and the cozy Le Patio inner courtyard with a fountain.
